Koln, 15. February 2008 – ford enters – for the first time in europe – the highly competitive segment of compact crossover vehicles and ventures with the new kuga into the territory of the successfully launched vw tiguan, among others. At the geneva motor show from 6. To 16. March, the production version of the ford kuga will celebrate its world premiere. The 4.44-meter-long and 1.64-meter-high five-door vehicle is based on the iosis x concept study, which was presented at the paris motor show in 2006.
Two drive variants
The new kuga is based on the same vehicle architecture as ford’s focus and c-max models. There is a choice of an all-wheel drive system with haldex clutch and an exclusively front-wheel drive version. Ford offers the compact off-roader in the equipment variants trend and titanium. Standard equipment includes an electronic safety and stability program esp with integrated rollover prevention arm (anti rollover mitigation) as well as an anti-lock braking system abs with electronic brake force distribution ebd (electronic brakeforce distribution).
The ford kuga surprises with interesting details in everyday life. Take the luggage compartment, for example: if the trunk is only to be loaded with smaller items, the upper section of the two-part tailgate can be opened individually using small buttons or remote control.
